MUSEO SOROLLA

Museum

You already know the Prado and Reina Sofia by heart?

Do not worry, Madrid can offer so much more, and Museo Sorolla is a real jewel of the city. Before entering the museum you can have a little walk in the beautiful garden of the house that resembles the calm and colors you can find in Andalusia, a delight! The museum is quite small as it is the house where the painter Joaquín Sorolla lived his last years, but it is also a nice way to discover an artist wondering around his house full of paintings and souvenirs.

What is so special about Joaquín Sorolla is the light he succeeded in capturing in his paintings. When admiring them we feel bewitched, as if we were on the beach near the beautiful lady in her long white dress. He painted the spanish “Belle Epoque” in a poetic way and became one of the most influential figures of impressionism. The female figure is also quite present in his paintings as his wife was a real muse for the painter, and we feel it during the visit: a beauty embodied in a special and charming approach to which only Sorolla knew the secret. Do not miss this unique experience!
