Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm Center

Library

Exams are just around the corner? The ESCP library is packed? You still have a lot to study? Don’t worry we have a plan for you! The Jacob und Wilhelm Grimm Zentrum is one of the coolest library of Berlin. The place is located right in the city center, just a few steps from Friedrichstraße U-Bahn and S-Bahn station.

Once you have dropped your bag and your coat in the locker room you can walk into the massive wooden reading room. We recommend you, either to bring your own lock or to buy a “MensaCard” (1,50€) at the cafeteria in the main hall so that you can use a locker. You can now choose to climb the stairs on the right or the left side of the building and… find a seat !

The entire building looks more like a Jedi temple in Star-Wars than a library: perfect place to study for your Master degree then ! Some of you might also feel being watched from above and therefore disturbed by the architecture of the reading room that can remind you of Bentham’s Panopticon…

Whether it becomes your favorite place to study or just a curiosity, it is a must see for a student in Berlin ! Just know that there is no Wifi.

Tips : The library closes at midnight during the week : perfect for a before party !
